Four of our Year 10 students were given the chance to go behind the scenes at Warwick Museum on Friday to learn about the collections and blog about their experiences.
Eleanor Bessant, Haley Cotton, Jessica Fear and Katie Jones spent the day talking to the curators and finding out about behind the scenes care of the museum collections. They were given a fascinating insight into the work that goes on at the museum and learned about how we can draw conclusions about the past through fossils, pottery, minerals, taxidermy and artefacts.
Takeover Day is run by Kids in Museums and this year more than 150 museums, art galleries and heritage sites ran an event, with more than 4000 children across England taking part. The idea behind the day is that young people are given meaningful roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to take part in the life of the museum.
You can read more about what they learned by reading their blog posts on the Our Warwickshire website.
