On Thursday 25 February Myton Politics students met Jeremy Corbyn who was in Warwick to promote the Labour candidate for the Police and Crime Commissioner elections in May.
Here’s an account of the meeting by Myton Politics student and Member of the Youth Parliament, Jonny Rutherford:
“We met Jeremy Corbyn in front of Shire Hall where he gave a speech on the importance of protecting against cuts in the NHS and Police service. He then had a private meeting in Costa Coffee. We camped outside waiting for him to come out. His aides arranged for us to wait for him in order to have a picture with him.
We introduced ourselves and talked about what we studied and where we wanted to be in the future. He then talked about mental health and how important it is to promote better mental health services amongst young people. He was extremely kind and was genuinely interested in what we had to say. It was a real eye-opener.”
