It was a pleasure to see our Year 7 students with their parents on Wednesday evening. The feedback from staff, parents and students was very positive, despite some waiting times caused by the traffic.
At our parents’ evenings, we often ask for questionnaires to be completed to give parents an opportunity to provide us with some feedback. I am delighted to see that 100% of over 90 responses agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy at Myton and is taught well. 96% of the responses also agreed that behaviour and bullying is managed and dealt with well.
The responses are very helpful and of the few who didn’t agree that behaviour and bullying are dealt with well, these families mainly felt there was too much emphasis on rules and sanctions for behaviour and not enough emphasis on anti-bullying.
I am also pleased to say that our rewards system is currently under review, with the aim of delivering a far greater emphasis on praise and celebration. This is being led by the teaching and learning team and we will be changing our procedures next term. We have also recently launched our pro-kindness agenda in school to really make sure students know how to have a positive impact on the happiness and success of their peers and how to avoid conflict and bullying.
Thank you once again to all who responded to the questionnaire. We are looking forward to embedding a culture of celebration and kindness over the next term so we can work towards 100% positive feedback.
Kind regards
Andy Perry
