January and February can be a difficult time of year for everyone, and in schools there can be an increase in disruption in lessons, so this is an ideal time to remind students of the expectations in school and especially in the classroom.
We have behaviour posters displayed around school (see copies at the end of this piece) and staff will be revisiting these with students next week. I would be grateful if you could take a moment to remind your child of our expectations. These basic rules allow all students to learn in a positive and secure environment.
The rules around uniform are particularly important. We like to meet students in a positive and friendly manner but there are occasions when they have left home with a poor standard of uniform, the wrong skirt or trousers and incorrect footwear. Hoodies should never be worn – the uniform requirements state coats, jumpers, but not hoodies. Confronting a student about their uniform tends to get the day off to a bad start, so please make sure your child is among the overwhelming majority of students who come to school looking very smart.
The mobile phone rule is simple: they should be switched off and in bags. Surprisingly a few students think they are the exception to this rule. Please help us get this message across. If you need to get a message to your child, please call 01926 493805 for either Student Support or the main school reception – this will reduce the number of times students need to check their screens.
Many thanks for your support.
