Myton is proud to have an excellent Learning Resource Centre (LRC) situated at the heart of the school and housing around 12,000 items catalogued on the library system.
We are open every day:
- Mon-Thurs – 8am-4pm
- Fri – 8am-3.30pm
There is seating for up to 72 students, 50 downstairs and 22 in the Sixth Form library. Teaching staff are welcome to book the LRC for class sessions on research, reading, or information handling skills at any time subject to availability. We have a team of Student Librarians who are trained in resource organisation, customer service and the day-to-day administration of the library system.
Students and staff are welcome to use the LRC before and after school, break and lunchtimes. It is an optional venue for Sixth Form private study.
Borrowing books
Students from Years 7 to 11 can borrow up to two items for up to three weeks.
Go to the library catalogue to browse or search for a book, see the latest arrivals or reserve a book to pick up.
Sixth formers may borrow up to 6 items
Staff may borrow up to 20 items.
Borrowers are responsible for all items borrowed and if they lose or damage anything, it must be paid for or replaced. Students should never take books out on behalf of anyone else.
Returning books
You can return your books to us in the LRC, using the returns box on the library counter.
Overdue books
Please be considerate to other users by returning books and DVDs on time.
After three weeks, overdue notices will be emailed home. If items are seriously overdue we will email an invoice directly to Parents/Carers.
Year 11 and Year 13 leavers
At the end of Year 11 and Year 13, students are reminded to return all outstanding items. All resources must be returned and all debts cleared before a signature can be given.
Newspapers and magazines
Currently, we take the Leamington & Warwick Courier. We also subscribe to a wide range of review journals covering most sixth form subjects and a few popular magazines. Current issues of these journals are kept in the display rack outside the LRC Office and back issues are kept in the red files behind the main desk. All A level journals are indexed on the LRC Search Catalogue and their contents pages are photocopied and filed to support sixth form wider reading.
Can I log in to my library account from home?
Yes, you can access your library account even when you are out of school through the library pages on the school website.
Book events
The LRC takes a lead in facilitating independent learning and reading for pleasure with both staff and students.
Year 7 Reading Challenge
Year 7 students are challenged to extend their reading! Further information about the challenge can be found here.
