Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for your patience and support last week with the snow and ice. I’m glad to see it melt so quickly, allowing us to have a normal week.
I have enjoyed meeting some of our stars of the future over the last two weeks. Isabella Dhoot has been named District Cadet of the year for the St John Ambulance, something she is rightly very proud of. Isabella has been a member of St John Ambulance since she was 7, and has benefited from their cadet scheme, making the rank of corporal. She is now looking forward to a career in either neuroscience or cardiology.
I have also been visited by Eleanor Fletcher and Nikit Sajiv, both local and regional table tennis champions and both looking forward to competing at a national level. The large boardroom style table in my office lent itself well to table tennis, as both Eleanor and Nikit tried their best to teach me how to add spin to the ball and then proceeded to wipe the floor with me.
I also met Ellan Fraser this week, wheelchair basketball player who competes in the national women’s league. She is Year 9 and has aspirations to make the national team and compete in the Olympics by 2024. She takes great joy in the sport and has friends in the national squad. The growing amount of tape on her hands is testimony to how competitive and tough a sport it is. The mixture of love for the sport and clear competitive will is clear in Ellan. I am left with very few doubts she will get to the top and best of luck to her.
With best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
