Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to send congratulations and kind words regarding our recent Ofsted upgrading. We will be sharing all of these with staff who I know really appreciate it.
As I have said, we are very pleased about the Ofsted judgements. The key to school improvement – and subsequently Ofsted inspections – is to be completely honest about the strengths of the school and the improvements we have made, but also the areas which still need development. This is the approach we have taken over the last two years and the approach we took with the team of inspectors in February. As a result, the written report reflects pretty much exactly our self-evaluation.
In improving the school, we have approached colleagues in education to see their outstanding practice and they have given willingly their time. For example, the line in the report which comments on collaboration with local primaries and the positive impact on transition is thanks to the work we have done with St Margaret’s, Bishop’s Tachbrook and to a greater extent Coten End. Our colleagues at Coten End have also influenced how we spend our additional funding and informed the rewriting of our Key Stage 3 curriculum which ensures “pupils are challenged effectively in their learning”.
A theme of the report is how well we know our school and the effectiveness of our improvement plans; we are proud of this. Over the last 18 months, we have worked collaboratively with President Kennedy School in Coventry and through discussions, learning walks, observations and very open sharing between our schools, we have created Myton-based plans which have elements of practice we have seen in action at President Kennedy.
The collaboration with Coten End, President Kennedy, our local primaries, Southam College and many others has been a feature of the last two years. It benefits all schools to do this and I would like to take a moment to thank all our partners in education for their time and willingness to share.
Now we have secured the Good overall with Outstanding for sixth form, we are focused on Outstanding throughout for the next inspection (three years away in theory) and have the right plans in place to get us there.
Thank you for your support.
