Wednesday September 25 would have been our annual whole school Open Evening, where we open our doors and invite prospective new families into school to look around and meet staff and students. Last year we welcomed over 450 families. As you’ll know from your own experience, it’s an important part of the process of choosing a secondary school.
This year, because of coronavirus restrictions, schools have been unable to run open events and have had to come up with alternative, virtual events to try to fill the gap and help parents and children with their decision.
I’m pleased to say we’ve now launched our own Virtual Open Evening which includes a tour of the school hosted by some of our Year 8 students, an introduction to Sixth Form by members of Senate (our Sixth Form student leadership body) and a welcome message from me. As I say in my video message, I’m incredibly proud whenever I have the opportunity of introducing Myton School to a new audience: proud of our students’ academic achievements, proud of the personal development work we do, proud of how we make the transition from Year 6 to Year 7 as smooth and effective as possible, and proud of the young adults who leave us and go on to do great things.
I’d personally like to thank all the students who helped make the films. I think you’ll agree they’ve done a great job and are a credit to their school, their families and themselves.
I’d be grateful if you could share the Virtual Open Evening with any families you know who might be considering Myton School.
Best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
