Dear Parents & Carers
I am so delighted to be welcoming our kids back into school on Monday. Over the past two days we’ve managed to carry out approximately 1,600 lateral flow tests and the whole process has gone remarkably smoothly, largely thanks to the maturity of the students and the Herculean efforts of the team here.
With schools re-opening and the data on transmissions, vaccines and fatalities all improving, it looks like we’re heading in the right direction. However, we mustn’t be complacent. I mentioned in my assembly on Tuesday the importance of personal responsibility for all our kids. We don’t want to have to keep telling them what to do regarding mixing, contacts, mask wearing, etc. What we want are young people who understand that they are the first of all of us to be taking these initial steps out of lockdown, and with independent and responsible decision making, they can ensure we will all be able to follow them in the coming months. If they take care to always limit contacts and potential transmission when they are able, soon enough we can all start to mix and enjoy some more freedoms.
So please be responsible kids. We’re all looking forward to seeing you, almost as much as we’re looking forward to getting ‘unlocked’ ourselves.
Best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
