This year, we have around eight students in Year 13 who are hoping to go into sport. Today we’re sharing what two of them – Anais C and George C – are hoping to do when they leave Myton at the end of this year.
Anais is hoping to study Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Bath or Exeter, with a placement year abroad to gain experience in the sporting industry. She wants to go into performance analysis, working with athletes and their coaches to maximise performance. She’s particularly interested in the science of the human body and how it moves in a way that allows participation and excellence in sport and the fact that there is so much that goes on behind the scenes of the performance besides what you see.
“Being a sports performer (netballer),” said Anais, “I see the outcome of the behind-the-scenes work like psychology, technique, diet, physiology, biomechanics and so on in the final performance.”
“I have been involved in the running of many sporting events where I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of people; one thing I love about sport is that it brings so many different people together.”
George is hoping to study Sports Science, Coaching and Physical Education at Loughborough University. He plans to go into either coaching or physical education.
“Sport has been a major part of my life,” said George, “And I’ve been inspired by my coaches and teachers to try new sports and develop my skills. For this reason, I want to go into these fields to inspire more people to take part in sport and help them develop.”
