Dear Parents and Carers
This week I have had the pleasure of spending time with groups of children who have been involved in interviews that have taken place in school. The Senior Senate were magnificent in their position as tour guides and advocates for Myton and a panel of students from Years 7-12 confidently sat with candidates answering questions and giving their insights into Myton. Our candidates were extremely impressed with the way in which they all presented themselves and our school.
This is on the back of a period of student voice where all our departments and strategic areas have interviewed or surveyed panels of students on their views of strengths and areas to improve at Myton School. It is vital for our school improvement plans that we listen to our students and gain their perspective. They are always honest, indeed often crushingly honest, about what they would like to see change and whilst there are some predictable comments eg sort the toilets please (in hand, see previous weekly) they always identify things about the school which need to change which we may not have considered.
I would like to thank every student who took part in any of our panels including the interviews this week and assure you all that the comments are listened to and actioned and we will share exactly how in due course.
And to the student who provided me with some jerk chicken he had made in school after hearing that his culinary skills were the subject of a conversation I was having, well that really made my day – thank you!
Best wishes
Andy Perry – Head Teacher
