This week Year 9 children had a taste of life behind bars when a group of practitioners from the Prison! Me! No Way!’ Trust visited school on Wednesday.
Myton has worked with the charitable trust for several years now. Set up in 1993 by prison officers, it raises awareness amongst young people about the causes, consequences, penalties and impact of crime.
Engaging workshops were held in classrooms for the children who were then shown to a purpose-built vehicle containing a mocked up prison cell. The students were amazed at how little space there is in a shared prison cell with single toilet and tried out the bunkbed as well as inmate uniform.
