A former student of Myton School has broken a powerlifter world record.
26-year-old Karenjeet Kaur Bains was the first Sikh female powerlifter to represent Great Britain in 2019, and has now gone on to make another piece of sporting history – she has broken the world record for the most times anybody has squatted their own body weight in one minute.
Karenjeet squat lifted her own body weight (67kg) in sixty seconds, totalling 42 reps, beating the previous female record of 30 reps.
“I also managed to beat the number of reps that had been set by the male equivalent of this record which was only 34 so that did feel quite empowering,” said Karenjeet.
“This has given me a buzz to set even more records!” She added.
Well done Karenjeet and we look forward to hearing more about your achievement!
