On Tuesday 5 December the RE team took 55 GCSE RE students to Shrewsbury prison, to assess the realities of prison life and how it has changed throughout time, to be able to discuss the moral issues that occur as a form of punishment. Shrewsbury prison also used to carry out capital punishment and pupils were able to see where this took place, so the debates we have had in the classroom can feel more real and help pupils to decide their opinion on such ethical matters. The pupils were a credit to the school. It was a great day, enjoyed by all, even if it was very cold!
