Earlier this month a team from our debate club competed in the annual Rotary Club Speaks competition, debating against teams from other schools in the area including Warwick School, Kineton High School and Kingsley School.
Our team (Carrie, Year 8, Michaela, Year 9 and Kanishk, Year 9) debated brilliantly and finished as runners up, receiving certificates and book tokens in recognition of their efforts. Unfortunately, only the winners get to move on to compete in the regional and national competitions, but this was a great result for their first experience of this style of event.
This continues the success of the debate club who had already secured a third-place finish (in a field of 40 plus entrants) and a judge’s commendation in their previous competition outing in October.
