Myton School has a well established tradition of high standards of dress. When you accept a place at the school for your child we will assume that you are in full support of the uniform outlined below which must be worn at all times. As well as the uniform and PE kit listed, your child will need a bag to carry a significant number of books and equipment.
We are very proud of our smart school uniform. Evidence supports the rationale that school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school, supporting effective teaching and learning.
School uniform helps to:
- instil pride;
- support positive behaviour and discipline;
- encourage identity with, and support for, the school ethos;
- protect children from social and financial pressures to dress in a particular way;
- nurture community cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of students.
The school uniform represents a reasonable requirement and pays regard to the: Sex Discrimination Act 1975, the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Race Relations Amendment Act 2002. We are mindful of the cost to families of buying school uniform when setting our uniform requirements and make every effort to combine school specific items, brought from the School’s Uniform supplier, with generic items that can be brought from a range of retailers. We also hold regular uniform drives throughout the year, when parents can pick up items of donated pre-loved uniform free of charge.
The school specific items of uniform, which must be purchased from the School’s uniform provider, are the school tie, blazer and some PE kit items. These items are highlighted on the list below. They can be purchased direct from Stich tech, allowing a try before you buy facility, or through the store’s on-line website with delivery to your home address.

Label your child’s uniform
All items of uniform should be clearly labelled with the student’s name to enable us to return lost property.
