We have received reports that children have been seen on the frozen Kingfisher Pool and the river in St Nicholas’ Park. Please remind your children to stay off frozen rivers and lakes due to the risk of falling through the ice.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have issued advice here on how to avoid incidents, and what to do if something does go wrong.

Just as Stagecoach have changed their timetable to improve the arrival of our students, they have advised that Gallows Hill is due to close from 2 January 2024 up to and including 31 March 2024. The previous closure, which allowed traffic to travel through in one direction, caused significant delays.

Stagecoach are doing all they can to combat any potential delays, but predict that during the AM & PM peak, the Myton Road and surrounding roads, will be impacted severely by this closure. 

School will reopen to all students on Monday 8 January 2024. Please note that some local schools will have this as a training day however this is a normal school day for Myton.

The A Level and GCSE exam certificates from the June 2023 exam series are now available for ex-Y13 and ex-Y11 students to sign for and collect from Myton School upper school reception area on Monday 18 December between 09:00 – 17:00.

If a student is unavailable to come in to school that day, they can email [email protected] to nominate a family member (including siblings at the school) or friend to come in and sign for and collect the certificates on their behalf, or arrange another mutually convenient day to come in.

Emails must come from the student’s own email address – not from the parent or carer.

All certificates must be signed for upon collection.

Current Y12 students who did their GCSE exams at Myton School are also advised to sign for and collect their exam certificates on that day during their break, lunch or study periods.

As a result of the continuing delays on these school bus services, Stagecoach are amending their timetables to take effect from Monday 8 January 2024.

Our annual Carol Service, which is attended by Year 7 students, will be take place at 11am next Friday 22 December 2023 at St Mary’s Church in Warwick. Parents of Year 7 students should indicate if they will be attending by responding to the SchoolPost letter sent out this week.

Please remember that school finishes at 12.30pm next Friday for all pupils. Buses have been made aware of the change to the school day.

It’s Christmas time and that can only mean one thing…staff panto time, oh yes it does!

Myton staff are putting on their version of Beauty and the Beast to raise money for the charity Doorway, working to prevent youth homelessness in Warwickshire. We have two performances, one at 4pm and one at 7:30pm on December 20th and we are hoping to sell out! Tickets are available on parent pay so please come along to boo, hiss and cheer your panto heroes and raise money for a fantastic cause.

Myton School students were extremely lucky to be the first school invited to participate in the first ever Young High Sheriff Award which was presented last night by the current High Sheriff, Sophie Hilleary. This was a prestigious event attended by local dignitaries including the Mayor, student entrants and their families and members of Myton staff.  As the first event of its kind, the hope is that this will roll out nationally to all schools.

The evening began with refreshments and a tour of the old Courts.  All students received a Certificate presented by the High Sheriff for taking part and the winning entry was submitted by Aaron in Year 13, with runners up Toby in Year 11 and On Tai in Year 10. 

Aaron, who is the first ever Young High Sheriff in the country, received his own High Sheriff robe to wear for the occasion and will spend a day working with the High Sheriff on a project of his choice, together with a cheque for £250. 

Two additional awards were presented to our “unsung heros” at Myton.  These were staff members who often go unnoticed for the contribution they make to school.  We are happy to say that Mrs Burrows, Finance Director and Mrs Haines, Designated Safeguarding Lead, received these awards.

We are very proud of all the students who took part and also for the recognition of our staff. Thank you also to Miss Millington and Mrs Wyatt who helped to make this event possible.
