Business Students hold a Business brunch
On Friday 15 December, we invited various employers into our school in order to give our selected Year 11 and Year 13 students a networking opportunity. Our employers ranged from Majestic Wine, Sainsburys and Calor Gas. Our aim was to allow our students to develop their confidence and oracy skills, as these soft skills are equally as important as their academic accolades. Our students did themselves proud and made an excellent impression on our guests. They were able to listen to the employers’ stories, followed by a pastry and coffee. This allowed our students to dig deeper and gain an understanding of the importance of soft skills and developing their character. A huge thank you to all of the employers and a well done to our students!
Christmas Concert
Over 70 students took part in the Christmas Concert on Tuesday evening in front of a packed audience, with performances ranging from solo piano and vocal through to string group, ukulele and rock bands.
It was wonderful to see solo performances from some of our Year 7 students and to see the display of talent at Myton, particularly at the end of a term which saw us lose our Music Department with all practice rooms and many of the instruments due to RAAC.
Thank you to all the students who took part, those helping, technician Mr Hurst with sound and lighting and Ms Harrisson who challenges and supports our students every year in developing and performing their musical skills. We look forward to welcoming parents to our next performance and seeing how the musical skills of our students develop over the year.
Carol Service
This morning we held our annual Christmas Carol Service at St Mary’s Church in Warwick. Our Year 7 students attended this festive event with readings, carols and musical performances from some of our students. Well done to all our instrumentalists, vocalists and Sixth Form readers.
Thank you to all the parents, carers, governors and the Mayor of Warwick, Councillor Oliver Jacques, for coming along and supporting this event. And special thanks to Reverend Jonathan Hearn, from St Paul’s Church, for taking our service and St Mary’s Church for once again welcoming us so warmly.

Virtual Work Experience with Transport for West Midlands
On Tuesday 12 December, On Tai, Jacob and Karl from Year 10 were successful in joining a virtual work experience project together with thirty other school students between the ages of 14-18 years. Our students had to apply to take place and this included writing a short summary on why they were interested in the opportunity and what they hoped to gain from it. In the workshop, students were given a scenario that involved a tunnel being flooded next to Birmingham Train Station and they had to come up with a solution for this. Solutions proposed included using social media to warn people about the issue and therefore prevent them going that way, encouraging alternative transport. Another considered diverting traffic and used maps of the area to do so. Unfortunately none of these ideas won, however it was a fantastic opportunity to use GIS, team work and analytical skills, whilst understanding careers related to Geography.
It was a great experience for all and I was really proud of how our students conducted themselves and represented Myton School.

Holocaust Speaker visits Myton
We were extremely privileged to welcome Gloria Silver to Myton to deliver her father’s inspirational story of survival, and ‘luck’ as he called it, to our Year 9 students.
During their history lessons this term Year 9 have been studying the Holocaust. Hearing the story of Tony Chuwen, Gloria’s father, enabled these students to learn more of the unique and individual stories of the Holocaust, which in turn teach us all valuable lessons about survival and resilience. These lessons also enforce in our students the importance of living in a tolerant inclusive society, which aims to challenge any type of prejudice or discrimination.
Christmas Jumper Day
Today was our Christmas/Cosy Jumper day in aid of Save the Children. It was lovely to see all the festive wear around the school and even Elsie our school dog got in on the action! So far we have raised £640 for this great cause and there is still time to make your donation if you haven’t done so – please do this via your ParentPay account! Thank you
