Inspiring Women into Engineering workshop
Students attended an ‘Inspiring Women into Engineering Workshop’ at the University of Warwick last week, organised by Jaguar Land Rover as part of International Women’s Day. The students listened to inspirational speakers and took part in workshops, which hopefully inspired them to consider engineering as a career pathway in the future.
Reading dog visits Myton
Selected students read to Zinny the ‘reading dog’ this week to help encourage their enjoyment of reading. The students loved meeting Zinny and we think Zinny enjoyed the stories!
Prison? Me? No Way!
Our Year 9 students took part in an initiative this week to raise awareness of the causes, consequences, penalties and impact of crime.
Students attended a range of events and workshops throughout the day run by the crime prevention charity, Prison? Me? No Way!
Maths Feast
Our top Year 10 Mathematicians took part in Maths Feast this week, a fun and educational challenge organised by the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme. Students were tested on maths skills, problem-solving and teamwork in an all-you-can-eat feast of problems!
Lear company visit Myton
Students from Years 11 to 13 were lucky enough to meet representatives from Lear this week.
Lear, an engineering company that designs and manufactures car seats, visited Myton to encourage future talent. And where better to look than our students?
Year 13 Disneyland Paris trip
Year 13 Computer Science, ICT and Media Studies students visited Disneyland Paris in half term. They had a great time and got to experience:
- a spectacular live drone and firework show
- a variety of Disney shows and parades
- how a company such as Disney are able to incorporate ICT throughout the park to create a unique customer experience (from virtual and augmented reality, animation techniques, motion sensors and 3D experiences)
- all the fantastic rides on offer
The students were all fantastic and have created lifelong memoires during their trip.
Year 10 trip to University of Oxford
Year 10 students visited Keble College, University of Oxford just before half term. They attended university workshops and learnt more about university options.
Young High Sheriff update
Young High Sheriff Aaron attended a Citizenship ceremony this month at the Council Chamber of the Town Hall Warwick.
Events within RE
Before half term, members of the REflections Club and Year 10 Core RE students reflected on why it is important to remember the Holocaust and other genocides that have happened since. These reflections now form a display in the RE corridor.
