Root to Shoot project
As part of the Root to Shoot project our students returned to Mallory Court Hotel last week to harvest the seeds they sowed at the end of last year. They made soup with the carrots they’d grown, which they then got to eat. The students enjoyed the full experience of planting, picking, cleaning and cooking the produce!

Fund raising achievement
Congratulations to those students who have taken part in the Miles for Morocco and the Loops for Libya challenges, and thank you to everyone who has sponsored them.
They have raised an amazing total of £1653.50 so far! Well done to everyone involved!

Evelyn’s Gift bench donation
Our thanks go to Helen Smith and Alan Coope from the charity Evelyn’s Gift who presented Myton School with a beautiful bench last week for our garden of reflection. This is an area within school where we remember those friends and students who we have sadly lost. We hope the new bench will be a peaceful place within our garden to sit and reflect.

Thank you!
Thank you so much to everyone who has offered words of encouragement, thanks and support over the last few weeks, we really appreciate those messages. A special mention to those parents who teamed up to send in lots of treats and goodies for staff to enjoy, this was amazing! Staff really enjoyed tucking in and reading the lovely messages in the cards.

Wet and Cold Weather
Now that the climate is changing and the dark days are approaching, please could you ensure that your young person dresses appropriately in rainy and cold weather. A warm coat (ideally waterproof) and an umbrella will see them through the many downpours that seem to happen just as they arrive and leave school. This will hopefully save them arriving to school, and getting home, drenched.

Behaviour outside of school
Please could we ask parents & carers to speak to their children about appropriate behaviour on their way to and from school, including being courteous and respectful to others around them at all times. We have recently received a complaint about students behaving in an antisocial way and, although the majority of our students are very respectful, a small number can give a bad impression of Myton School pupils. Thank you for your support.

Safe cycling
Please remind your children about safe and considerate cycling especially when going through the park at times when younger children and families may be wandering on or around the cycle path. Please travel at an appropriate speed for the surroundings and always leave time to brake when necessary, to avoid accidents. Useful information on safe cycling can be found here.

Measles
NHS England is urging parents to check that their children are up to date with their MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) vaccinations in the wake of measles cases rising across the country. Measles is highly infectious and if left unvaccinated nine out of ten children in a classroom can catch the disease if just one child is infectious.
