Drawing nude figures is an incredibly challenging activity and our Head of Art, Mr Meredith was very pleased with how the students coped. In addition, students were able to look around the the largest exhibition of work by leading contemporary artist Chila Kumari Singh Burman, which featured a dazzling array of works including drawings, prints, collage, sculpture, neons and installation.
Musicians perform at Warwickshire Music event
A group of Year 7 to 9 musicians recently took part in a ‘come and play’ event organised by Warwickshire Music held at Kenilworth School. Media and Film Studies visit to Coventry University
This week our Sixth Form Media and Films Studies students visited Coventry University and made two short TV shows.
The students were shown around the campus and its fantastic new facilities by the university’s BA Hons Media & Communications lecturers, who worked with the students to plan, shoot and live edit two ‘vodcasts’ shows called ‘Share Sync’, which will be available online shortly. In groups they discussed the pressures young girls are under on social media and the role of film today as well as films/music/TV/ podcast recommendations.
Year 10 visit to the University of Oxford
Year 10 students had the opportunity to visit the University of Oxford last week. The aim of the visit was to inspire students to work hard to achieve their goals and gain a greater awareness of the university opportunities that may be available to them in the future. The visit included workshops about the different types of universities and what they can offer young people. The students also attended workshops on student finance and the university application processes and at the end of the sessions the students also had the opportunity to visit some of the historic colleges within Oxford University and to have lunch in The Great Hall.
