Serena trains for water polo tournament
During the half-term, Year 12 student Serena travelled to the Czech Republic with her water polo team for a training camp in preparation for the upcoming EU Nations tournament later this month. Serena is set to compete as part of the Great Britain Junior Women’s Water Polo Team at this prestigious event. Serena’s selection for the team highlights her dedication, hard work, and growing reputation in the sport. African dance workshop and disco
Year 13 student Izzie writes about this week’s African dance workshop and disco below.
As October draws to a close, it marks the end of Black History Month, and here at Myton we’ve spent the month bringing awareness to the experiences black people have faced historically as well as presently. We are embracing the motto ‘young, black and listened to’ which reflects Myton’s purpose of fostering a safe and comfortable environment for students of all backgrounds. We have also been celebrating the rich culture of black heritage, specifically with the Afrobeats dance workshop and disco that was held on Monday night. Organised by Miss Zahran and Miss Jones, the Upper School Hall hosted students and their parents, for an evening honouring African dance and music.

Connected Communities Workshop
Year 8 Computing students were given the opportunity to take part in a ‘Connected Communities’ workshop led by volunteers from the tech industry this week. The two-period session, led by Digital Skills Education and supported by Cellnex UK volunteers, engaged Year 7 and 8 students in hands-on coding activities using microbits and a map of a virtual city. The students explored smart city technology by configuring sensors and controlling traffic systems, learning valuable coding skills and gaining insights into potential tech careers. The students enjoyed the interactive learning experience and the volunteers were very impressed by the questions they asked. Thank you to Mr Stone who helped get this session running!
