Dear Parents and Carers
Last night we had our Festival of the Arts and a big thank you to everyone who supported this. On a cold, dark and windy evening it was hugely rewarding to see our wonderful young people doing fantastic things.
The idea behind the Festival of the Arts, which is now in its fourth year, is that young people have the opportunity to develop their skills of performing in a safe and reasonably informal environment. It has evolved and now includes Year 10/11 drama pieces which are assessed.
I was with Chris White MP watching one of our Year 11 drama pieces which was incredibly moving. Even after all these years of working with young people they still amaze and inspire; they were simply brilliant.
In other areas we are also seeing outstanding performances from students, particularly in sport with many of our cross country runners as well as other sports teams doing extremely well this year. Of course it is to be expected that we overpower most other local schools, as with the size of our year groups we do have a considerable pool of talent to choose from, but it is not only our A teams, but also our B and C teams which have been extremely successful. This shows determination and grit, teamwork and commitment – all skills highly desired by employers.
It just remains for me to thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards
Paul MacIntyre
