Today is Year 13’s last day on formal timetable before they move onto their revision schedule to prepare for the remaining A level exams. On behalf of the governors and all the staff here at Myton, I wish them well through this busy exam period and on whichever pathway they have chosen. It is a pleasure to work with Year 13. They are young adults, full of potential, and I have made no secret of my jealousy of them, starting out on the most exciting bit of life: university in most cases but also employment and apprenticeships. I suspect some of their leavers’ assembly today will be spent looking at pictures of them when they arrived nearly seven years ago as 11 year old kids – I hope it is both nostalgic and highly embarrassing.
As a mark of respect for the victims of the terrorist attacks in Manchester and the subsequent suspension of election campaigning, we cancelled our candidate Question Time this week. However, I would like to thank Warwick Boys School who have extended an invitation to our Year 13 first-time voters, to attend their event on Tuesday 6 June at 7.30pm. It would be great to see as many of our Year 13 students there as possible, although I do understand that those sitting an exam the following day will have more important things to focus on. Either way, I would like to take this opportunity to urge all our first-time voters to cast their ballot on June 8, whoever it may be for.
