Dear Parents and Carers
I am delighted to see the celebration of students’ work in the newsletter each week. No generation of children have ever been expected to work at home in this way and for so long; even World War 2 did not close the nation’s education system. We are seeing many students showing a real determination to succeed and to not let this epidemic slow them down. It is heartening to see this character shine through – determination to succeed under trying circumstances will be a theme for the foreseeable future.
You will have seen the ongoing confusion in the press over how and when schools will reopen. We have always tried to be pragmatic through this whole epidemic and make decisions early and transparently so parents can adjust. I have to confess that pragmatism and early planning are made trickier when the PM and the written guidance say such different things and the best offered is: “Some face-to-face support for Years 10 and 12 sometime on or after June 1st.” However, we will look forward to sharing with you some plans for what this will look like at Myton as soon as possible. Please be patient as the powers in charge of education are pulling in very different directions at this point, but rest assured, the safety of students and staff is our priority as well as how we can support and accelerate learning. I will be in touch very soon with some plans.
Best wishes and stay safe.
