Dear Parents and Carers
A tough week with the passing of Lianne Abbott on Monday. As you’d hope for in a school, everyone has come together to look out for each other, and we’ve had some lovely comments from parents reflecting on their own shock and sadness but also saying what a difference Lianne made to their child. Lianne arrived at Myton in 2022 and prior to that had spent nine years at Henley School where she is well known and loved, and we’ve been in touch with them also.
As you probably know, it’s not the first time we have lost a member of our community and tucked away in a couple of places are memorials to children and staff who have passed whilst part of Myton. In fact, we were visited this week by lovely parents who had come to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of their son, and who wanted to add some flowers to the memorial garden we have for students. This is important for a community, and I often see kids reading the plaques and staff visiting the garden. In time we will decide what memorial we will have for Lianne, but for this week it’s just been about pulling together and thinking of her family and her children.
Best wishes
Andy Perry
