Year 8 Computing students were given the opportunity to take part in a ‘Connected Communities’ workshop led by volunteers from the tech industry this week. The two-period session, led by Digital Skills Education and supported by Cellnex UK volunteers, engaged Year 7 and 8 students in hands-on coding activities using microbits and a map of a virtual city. The students explored smart city technology by configuring sensors and controlling traffic systems, learning valuable coding skills and gaining insights into potential tech careers. The students enjoyed the interactive learning experience and the volunteers were very impressed by the questions they asked. Thank you to Mr Stone who helped get this session running!
