Back in February our set 1 students in Years 9, 10 and 11 sat the Intermediate Maths Challenge. This has been one of our most successful years, with ten students qualifying for further rounds of the competition. Around 200,000 students take part nationally, with the top 40% being awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze certificates in the ratio of 1:2:3. This year our students achieved 8 gold, 31 silver and 46 bronze certificates. Congratulations in particular go to:
Year 11
- James McKeever and Sam O’Connor-Stewart, who both attained gold and were joint best in school.
Year 10
- Bradley Hickman, gold, best in year, and qualifier for the Intermediate Maths Olympiad (top 500 in country).
- Silas Moore Taylor, Rhys Morgan and Izzy Komarasinha, who were all gold, and qualify for the Intermediate Kangaroo.
Year 9
- Ben Weir, gold, best in year, and qualifier for the Intermediate Maths Olympiad (top 500 in country).
- Euan Sutherland, gold, and qualifier for Intermediate Kangaroo.
- Ben Thacker, Edward Murdoch, Tia Norton and Ben Whiting who were all silver but also qualify for the Intermediate Kangaroo.
Well done to all who took part, and good luck to those who sit round two on Thursday 16 March.
