As part of Year 13’s Speaker Week programme we were lucky enough to host Felix, a JLR apprentice and Sandra, a member of the JLR Education Programme during National Apprenticeship Week. They gave lots of tips on how to ace an interview and talked Year 13 through the process of applying for a job with an international company. Passion, enthusiasm and honesty were key messages.
It was great to see how someone who was in their position last year is now happy in what promises to be a great career. Felix really highlighted how this was a true possibility for any of our students willing to have a go. He shared real-life examples of what an interviewer is looking for and reassured them that companies are not expecting years of experience from a school-leaver and explained how every day examples such as supporting a sibling with homework, or facing a challenge at school can demonstrate the transferable skills an employer is looking for.
Lots of tips for an interview (not just in their field) are available on JLR’s website.
