Well done to our Year 9 book reviewers who took part in the Warwickshire Book Award 2015 and attended the prize giving at the Bridgehouse Theatre, Warwick School on Wednesday 18 November.
The book awards aim to encourage Year 8 students to participate in independent reading over the summer months before moving into Year 9. Participants write a review of each of four books and are asked to vote for their favourite book.
The titles for the 2015 award were:
The Earth is Singing – Vanessa Curtis
We Are All Made of Molecules – Susin Nielsen
The Dogs – Allan Stratton
Terror Kid – Benjamin Zephaniah
Yazmin Braich (M1), Hannah Fardoe (B12), Harriet Black (B3) and Jaya Gataaura (L9) all read the four shortlisted books and wrote reviews of each book. Special congratulations go to Hannah Fardoe whose reviews won a prize. And thanks to Miss B Johnson in the LRC for organising Myton’s team and supporting the students at the event.
The winning book for 2015 is The Earth is Singing by Vanessa Curtis and all four books are now available for students to borrow from the Learning Resource Centre.
