The Friends of Myton School have recently bought a whole class set of interactive learning handsets for the school and our Year 7 maths students were quick to get stuck in and start using them. Jon Chambers from FOMS came into school on Tuesday 21 March to formally present the handsets to Head of Maths, Mr Ealden, and Mrs Mercer immediately set her class a number of challenges using the new technology.
The handsets are a great way of giving immediate feedback to students. Teachers set questions and can see instantly who has understood the question and who has not. The handsets can feedback to students, if they got the answer right or wrong, and what to do next time to get the answer right.
The students were all really enthusiastic about the new technology. “I always put my hand up if I know the answer to a question,” said one student, “But you don’t always get picked to answer. This way I get to answer every single question and find out which ones I get right and which ones I don’t.”
Thank you to FOMS for providing the school with such a great resource. They are now fundraising for another class set so that more students in more subjects are able to benefit from them.
