On Wednesday 23 November four of our sixth form maths students entered the regional final of the Senior Team Maths Challenge, organised by the UK Maths Trust. They travelled to Solihull Sixth Form College with Mrs Hartley and competed against other schools from the area, including local grammar and independent schools. The competition consisted of 3 rounds where the students had to work as a team to solve a variety of challenging, unusual and sometimes bizarre problems from the world of maths. After a slightly disappointing first group round, the team pulled out the stops in the cross number and shuttle rounds and ended eventual winners.
The successful team were: Timmy Cooper and Jasmin Rai (Year 13) & Cameron Cowan and Ross Jubber (Year 12). They now progress to the national final, to be held in London in the new year.
