Over seventy of our Year 11 students travelled to Nottingham on Tuesday 24 January to attend a Poetry Live! event at the Royal Concert Hall. The day included discussions and readings by some of the nation’s best-loved poets including John Agard, Simon Armitage and Carol Ann Duffy, all of whom feature on the GCSE English syllabus. There were opportunities for the students to ask questions, and the chief examiner talked them through how to go about answering the exam questions featuring the unseen poem.

Many thanks to the English Department for organising the trip and giving our students the opportunity to see some of the poets they are studying in the flesh.
