Three of our talented A level German students were lucky enough to spend two weeks working in our twin town of Brühl recently in order to hone their speaking skills and experience first-hand the life and culture in Germany. They worked with young children in nursery or day care and stayed with families which they found to be both enjoyable and valuable.
Amy Ahearne loved working in her Kindergarten which she found to be a wonderful institution where the children were very happy and clearly thriving: “It was a pleasure to work with and get to know everyone. The staff were gregarious and welcoming and, along with the children, were very happy to have me join them for two weeks. Although it was challenging at times, I was really able to immerse myself in the language, culture and way of life. I also met lots of lovely people, did many interesting things and saw some beautiful places.”
Ellen Jardine reported, “For my work experience I spent two weeks in a German Kindergarten and this was my first experience of immersion into German. It was challenging to start with, but very rewarding and exciting to feel how quickly my German improved.”
