Head Teacher Message
Dear Parents and Carers
A tough week with the passing of Lianne Abbott on Monday. As you’d hope for in a school, everyone has come together to look out for each other, and we’ve had some lovely comments from parents reflecting on their own shock and sadness but also saying what a difference Lianne made to their child. Lianne arrived at Myton in 2022 and prior to that had spent nine years at Henley School where she is well known and loved, and we’ve been in touch with them also.

Our second Year 9 group returned from their weekend in Newquay this week. It looks like they had a wonderful time. The third and final group leave for their trip on Friday.

Year 9 Media Studies students visited Drayton Manor theme park & zoo this week.
Students filmed footage for either a music video or documentary and were able to enjoy the park’s various attractions afterwards.

Members of our Vocal Group performed at St Mary’s Church this week to round off the 2024 Rotary Midsummer Schools’ Concert.
The event, supported by Warwick: A singing town, was attended by the mayor of Warwick, Councillor Dave Skinner and included a range of vocal, samba percussion and string performances from local primary and secondary schools.

Year 8 students visited the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair at the NEC this week. There were hands-on activities and workshops covering topics such as Energy & Transport, Health & Wellbeing and Environment & Sustainability. Our students had a fun and informative day!

The first ever Warwick Pursuits Festival takes place at St Nicholas Park this weekend. The event focuses on History & Literature, Music & Dance, Theatre & Art, and Sports & Wellbeing, and will be filled with live music, food, drinks, workshops, demonstrations, and local information.

Sports News
The sun was shining for our Sports Day at Edmondscote athletics track this week. Despite the heat we saw some great performances, personal bests and school records broken. We were even joined by ex-student and BBC Gladiator Karenjeet Kaur Bains who presented the medals to our track winners.
Thank you to all our students who supported or competed at the event, the staff who helped run the day, the families who came to watch and to Karenjeet for helping inspire our budding athletes!

County School Games girls’ football
Well done to both the U13 and U15 girls’ football teams who competed well in the Coventry, Warwickshire and School Games 5-a-side tournament last week. The U13s finished fourth and the U15s were third and also received the award for fair play.
