Myton School is committed to recruiting and training enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about becoming outstanding teachers. We take trainees from a number of different providers but enjoy a particularly close relationship with our strategic partners, the University of Warwick.
School Direct
If you like the idea of training to be a teacher ‘on the job’, you can apply to train at Myton through the School Direct Programme. This training is school-based, meaning you will be fully immersed in school life from day one.
Myton School will be part of the following partnership offering School Direct training in 2022-23:
Why Myton School?
Whichever teacher training route you’ve chosen, as a trainee teacher at Myton you will receive specialist support from our professional and subject mentors, helping you develop your practical skills in the classroom, whilst gaining a theoretical understanding.
At the end of your training you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and designated a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT). You will be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and in some case, 60 Masters credits.
Our Initial Teacher Training provision was identified as ‘outstanding’ by Warwick University in 2017.
Here’s what some former trainees have said about us
“Myton is an excellent place to train because you are surrounded by lots of supportive and well-trained teachers who will always find time to help you. The school has good behaviour policies in place which most students respect and all of them understand the consequences of not behaving/not attending a detention. I also saw some good departmental policies which clearly help engage the students.”
“My training year has been extremely positive as I have had the opportunity to work alongside experienced members of staff who challenge me to the best of my ability as well as give advice and support. Feedback from my mentor/professional mentor and other members of staff has enabled me to reflect on my practice and instantly improve the following lesson.”
“I have completed this year with an outstanding grading, thanks to the guidance of my subject mentor, professional mentor and the help from everyone I have encountered around school.”
